Mission & History

For more than 70 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue has been committed to providing safe places for Bellevue’s youth when they are not in school. Targeting the neighborhoods that need us most, Clubs ensure all Eastside's children and teens have equal access to life-enhancing programming focused on academics, health, and leadership. While Club operations shifted in 2020, below describes a traditional year at BGCB.*

In 2022, we saw a marked increase in the number of kids served. More than 12,200 youth, 3,211 of whom are registered members, participated in our myriad of programs, thanks to unwavering support of our community.

Our Clubs are more than just after-school programs; they provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps families thrive. We offer transportation services from local school sites directly to our Clubs, making it easier for kids to access the care they need.

Our dedicated staff has served over 100,000 healthy snacks, providing a lifeline for many of our registered members who qualify for free and reduced lunch.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue, our mission is to help every youth in our community reach their full potential. We are committed to creating bright futures for kids from all walks of life, and with your support, we can continue to make a difference. Thank you for being part of Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue Family.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF BELLEVUE'S HISTORY

Founded 1952 on 100th Ave in downtown Bellevue, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue has provided a fun and safe environment, with caring adults, for community youth when they are not in school.

Over the decades, BGCB has acted as a leader in the Bellevue community and in the Boys & Girls Club Movement. In the 1970s, Bellevue Boys Club admitted girls as members and changed our name years before the national association. In the early 1990s, BGCB opened the first and only Teen Center in Bellevue.

In 2005, in partnership with the City of Bellevue, the Club opened the South Bellevue Community Center.  This unique partnership provides critical human services to families in South Bellevue.

As part of our Be Great Bellevue Capital Campaign, we partnered up with the City of Bellevue again to deepen our reach and impact by opening Hidden Valley Fieldhouse in 2015 and a new Downtown Club in 2016.

In the last 25 years, the Club has expanded to 17 sites across Bellevue. Today, BGCB serves more than 12,200 youth annually, 3,200+ of which are registered Club members.
